Currently with the flamingos

| |
Since the beginning of winter, flamingos have been looking for a partner to reproduce with. In order to stand out from their fellow flamingos and to find a mate, the flamingo puts on a very colourful plumage during this season. But that is not all! To increase their attractiveness, the flamingos will also "parade". We'll tell you more about this right after and you can also listen to the video explanations of Frédéric Lamouroux, in charge of the ornithological park of Pont de Gau, about the nuptial parades.

Learn to dance to the rhythm of the flamingos
Each species has its own method of seducing its partner, but in the case of flamingos, they dance to find their chosen one. During the breeding season, flamingos, like many other animals, perform "courtship dances" in order to attract a partner. This parade consists of a large number of more or less complex movements to be performed.
Shall we dance? Can you imitate them? This succession of postures has no definite order, the flamingos just let their creativity speak for itself to link this choreography as they please.
Two postures are presented here, but you can find more postures by following us on Instagram!

Message from a sponsor
A few weeks ago, we received a touching testimony from Madeleine, Marco's sponsor, which we share with you here: "Hello, I was Marco's sponsor for a year. I chose this flamingo because my partner has the same name and they are both from the same year! I saw that he was observed several times during my sponsorship and always at the ornithological park of Pont de Gau. At 41 years old, I imagine he limits his movements! I plan to visit the park in January or February to enjoy the courtship displays and show them to my Marco." Unfortunately Madeleine and Marco did not come face to face with Marco the flamingo, during their visit to the ornithological park of Pont de Gau. Madeleine tells us "we paid attention to all the flamingos but none of them had the XAD ring... We hope that Marco will break the record for longevity and that we will have the opportunity to see him in pictures or in real life one day! ". Since this exchange, our Marco has been seen once more. So if any image-hunting sponsors come across this message, here's something to motivate them to photograph the ringed flamingos. To be continued...
