Lucienne's interview

How did you become Lulu's godmother? It was a Christmas present from my daughter.
How did you hear about us? I didn't know about "adopt a flamingo" before I got the present. As for my daughter, it was a radio programme that made her want to find out more.
How long have you been Lulu's godmother? Since 2020, with an omission in 2021 and again in 2022.
Who did you want to join you in ringing and why? I suggested it to a friend who loves nature and birds...
What was your favourite part of ringing? It was magical when the volunteers stepped into the water at sunrise to direct the birds towards the corral! But also the release of the chicks after ringing, weighing, measuring and other tests. They weren't very sure of their feet, especially the ones that had been tagged, but they soon regained their confidence and headed back to the crèche.
Was there anything that surprised you? The very calm atmosphere where everyone had their place and role to play, so as not to frighten the chicks. There was a lot of tenderness among those who carried their chicks in their arms.
If you'd like to tell us more about the day, please don't hesitate! A big thank you to Coralie and Nathalie from the Tour du Valat who accompanied and pampered us throughout the morning. We were able to get close to the different stations, observe and ask our questions. What magical moments!
And what can we say about the snack at the salt marshes to round off the morning, the tasting of wines from the Petit Saint-Jean estate and the informal meal... It was great fun!
Thank you to the organisers, to everyone involved, to the prize draw (what a great idea!) and good luck to the next lucky winner!
